Discovering each child's potential

How We Use Your Donations

Teacher Fred Henry gives as much nuturing and love to Amber as he does to his own children.  The success of our agency depends on dedicated staff like Fred.

Mary Cariola directs undesignated donations to the agency’s endowment fund.  Income from the fund is typically used to help provide pay increases for staff, including teachers, teacher aides and therapists.  In uncertain economic times, it is important that the agency have a reliable source of funding for this very important need.

Our dedicated and talented staff is the key to the success of our agency and those we serve.  Staff turnover is never healthy, but it is particularly detrimental for kids with disabilities.  They thrive on stability and continuity.

Our auditor recently rated the agency’s overall financial position as “above average to outstanding.” According to CharityNavigator.org, the average non-profit overhead for administration and fund raising expenses is 17 percent of the overall budget. In 2009, only 8 percent of the agency’s budget was spent on administration and fund raising.

Mary Cariola President Paul Scott credits the Agency’s finance team, led by Irene Magee, Director of Financial Services. “The entire team is very conscientious. Everyone has a talent for developing strategies to maximize funding and contain costs.”
