Discovering each child's potential

Board of Directors

Kate Lyon, Board Chair

Partner, Lyon Capital Management

Kate LyonKate Lyon brings expertise in finance to her role as Chair of the Board of Directors.  She previously served as Vice Chair of the Board, Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.  Working closely with the business office, the Finance Committee monitored such important issues as management of the endowment funds, the annual audit and the budget.  She also undertook numerous independent research studies and projects that benefited the Finance and Investment Committees.

Kate has found many ways to serve Mary Cariola Children’s Center during her seven-year tenure on the Board. She’s been a great ambassador who has introduced many new friends to the Agency—including her son, John. Kate encouraged John to volunteer at the Kreag Road Residence, which turned into an internship and a long-term friendship.

She and Lyon Capital Management are generous supporters. Residents and staff at Kreag Road all had special shirts for last year’s Walk thanks to Kate’s efforts.  At the 30th Anniversary Women’s Golf Classic in 2008, she recruited other board members and friends to attend the tournament dinner and support the silent auction. Lyon Capital is also a sponsor of the 60th Anniversary Gala.

“We are fortunate to have leadership with such commitment to our mission coupled with financial expertise,” explained Mary Cariola President, Paul Scott. “Kate takes a strong personal interest in the financial health and stability of the Agency and that is critical at this point in our history.  She has put tremendous energy into preparing for the board chair position.”

Kate and her husband Doug are partners in Lyon Capital Management, a local investment management firm.
