Discovering each child's potential

Meet Jay

Jay Berdych

Jay

Age: 11

Birthday: November 8

Favorite activity: Soccer

SoccerJay also enjoys playing with the therapy dogs at the English Road residence during their monthly visit, and he has a love for fire trucks and rescue equipment.

Accomplishments since arriving at Mary Cariola:
Jay’s mom, Michelle, says that she appreciates the skills her son has acquired in the kitchen at the group home. “I’m always so pleased when he comes home and shows off what he has learned. He’s now an ace at filling the dish washer!” Jay will be moving up to middle school this fall where he will attend BOCES classes in public school.

What his parents say about Mary Cariola:
“Camp Cariola is the only opportunity that Jay and other children like him have for a summer vacation. Because Jay suffers from severe emotional difficulties and a learning disability, most of his life is a struggle. I’m so blessed and grateful to see his happiness at camp.”
