Mary Moment Memories
It was an evening of reflection, motivation and celebration as more than 250 staff, volunteers, families and Board Members gathered at The Strong Museum to celebrate the Agency’s 70th anniversary.
Agency updates were announced, volunteers were thanked, and outgoing Board Members John Barr and Jo Ellen Pinkham were recognized for their commitment to the Agency. A variety of awards were given to employees who exemplify the Mary Cariola spirt.
Social Work Supervisor Wendy Winston was honored with the 2019 Paul C. Scott Employee of the Year Award. Wendy, an employee of 10 years, was honored for her department leadership and for being a champion for our children and families. She is applauded for her ability to prioritize families in crisis even when swamped with other responsibilities.
Social Worker and Counselor Megan Schuyler was recognized as a Rising Star for always volunteering for any situation, for developing strong relationships with co-workers, and for advocating for her students and their families.
Jennie DeLang, Registered Nurse, was also honored as a Rising Star. She was cited for her vibrancy and enthusiasm and was commended for her expertise, compassion and ability to keep things running smoothly.
Rising Star Awards are given to employees who have been with the Agency for three years or less.
Inspired by the gracious philanthropy of the family of Joseph Bonadio, the Pappert-Bonadio Families’ Hands & Hearts Award has been established to honor deserving employees. The award winners - selected from the School Program, Administrative Team and Community Services Department - honors dedicated employees who go above and beyond in performing their job and displaying the passion and commitment that personifies the true mission of the agency. The Hands & Hearts Award represents the guiding and helping hands that touch so many lives in a sincere and loving manner.
The inaugural recipients of the Hands & Hearts Award are Catherine Welch, Coordinator of School Operations, Teacher Jessica Knight, and Peter Kent, Residence Coordinator at our Bailey Road residential home.
We congratulate each of our award winners and remain grateful to our volunteers and Board of Directors who dedicate so much time and talent to our mission.
